Installation kit for air ducts
The sterilAir ESD acts as a microbial "filter" in central ventilation systems with almost no air resistance and is offered as a ready-to-install unit with two UV-C tubes.
ET surface emitter
The sterilAir ET enables maximum effect by emitting UV-C directly at surfaces such as evaporator fins. The stainless-steel tube protects the tube from breakage and houses a reflector.

EX installation module with flange
sterilAir EX modules are implemented from the outside directly into the air duct to develop their full power. Thanks to different tube technologies, the system can perfectly be adapted to all conditions.
sterilAir supports you in the fight against viruses and bacteria by UV-C disinfection. The UV-C destroys the RNA and inactivates not only bacteria but also viruses, such as the coronavirus. UV-C disinfection is suitable for highly frequented rooms such as medical practices and waiting rooms, shopping malls and event rooms, open-plan offices and gyms with central ventilation.
UV-C energy fighting against corona
If untreated, coronaviruses (as well as flu or hepatitis viruses) can remain as aerosols in the interior air for up to 3 hours. UV-C exposure destroys the RNA and has been proven to inactivate up to 99.99% of coronaviruses (as well as other bacteria and viruses).
Ultraviolet radiation doses for inactivation of coronaviruses
Suitable disinfection techniques are needed to slow down the global spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Ultraviolet radiation (UV) is known to have an antiviral effect, but measurements of radiation doses required for the inactivation of SARS-CoV-2 have not yet been published. Since coronaviruses do not differ greatly in their structure, the new SARS-CoV-2 virus - and possible future mutations - will also be highly UV-sensitive. Established UV disinfection methods can efficiently inactivate the new SARS-CoV-2 virus without additional modifications.
Genomic Modeling as an Approach to Identify Surrogates for Use in Experimental Validation of SARS-CoV-2 and HuNoV Inactivation by UV-C Treatment
SARS-CoV-2 is responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic that continues to pose significant public health concerns. While research to deliver vaccines and antivirals are being pursued, various effective technologies to control its environmental spread are also being targeted. Ultraviolet light (UV-C) technologies are effective against a broad spectrum of microorganisms when used even on large surface areas. In this study, we developed a pyrimidine dinucleotide frequency based genomic model to predict the sensitivity of select enveloped and non-enveloped viruses to UV-C treatments in order to identify potential SARS-CoV-2 and human norovirus surrogates.
Air filter and UV-C energy
It all depends on the combination
Filter class / energy requirement
- PM 1
≤1 µm - PM 2.5
≤2,5 µm - PM 10
≤10 µm
- high
- medium
- low
Required UV-C dose
- strong
- medium
- weak
Fine dust and bacteria are filtered with an air filter. It is often not possible to upgrade existing ventilation systems with higher grade filters to combat viruses as well, since this would require a considerable increase in the air flow volume. It makes sense to combine filter with UV-C energy, which is capable to kill even the smallest organisms <1µm with a rather low UV-C dose.
What really matters?
Different factors in your central ventilation system lead to very different requirements and results. Temperature, air velocity, but also humidity and duct length are parameters to be considered for an effective UV-C installation.
